Spock’s Week 5 NFL Picks
The real refs have returned, and balance has once again been restored to the NFL…for now. This week promises to offer a lot more excitement, too, especially with Drew Brees looking to break Johnny Unitas’s record tonight in New Orleans against the Chargers.

LOGICAL: Buffalo at San Francisco (-10)
The Bills’ offseason of defensive spending seems to be coming back to haunt them. They gave out $100M to Mario Williams who seems to have transported his game to another planet ever since. After giving up 52 points last week at home to the New England Patriots, including 31 in the fourth quarter alone, the Bills now have to travel cross-country to take on one of the best teams in the league. The 49ers are coming off a 34-0 thrashing of the Jets in New York, and I expect them to continue the trend of beating New York teams today when the Bills come to town. While San Francisco’s offense has seemed somewhat off the last two games, there’s no remedy better than facing the Bills’ defense. 49ERS

Playing at home, in front of their crowd without their coach, will surely provide an added spark for the Colts. While they may not win, you can expect them to keep it close enough to cover. COLTS
