Tim Tebow signs one-year deal with the Eagles
Tim Tebow is a religious guy, so he’d probably be the first one to tell you that an NFL team signing him to another contract is the first sign of the apocalypse.
Yup, that’s right, folks, Tim Tebow is getting another crack at the NFL thanks to Chip Kelly and the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles officially signed Tebow to a one-year contract, making him the fourth quarterback on their depth chart.
Whether Tebow makes the roster remains to be seen, but the most likely scenario is Tebow helps add some competition to a quarterback pool that already includes Sam Bradford, Mark Sanchez and Matt Barkley. Keep in mind that Tebow was a backup to Sanchez during the 2012 season with the New York Jets. (I’m sure Sanchez is thrilled at the prospect of having Tebow take a locker right next to his again.)
Tebow hasn’t been with an NFL team since he spent time with the New England Patriots in 2013 during training camp. He has spent the last two years working with Tom House, Tom Brady’s personal quarterback coach working on his mechanics. On top of that, Tebow spent last fall working for ESPN’s SEC Network.
If Tebow manages to make the roster, it’ll be a great ending for a guy who has publicly declared he will never give up on his NFL dream. Hate him or love him, you have to admire and respect the guy’s passion and desire to play the game of football.
Get ready, Philly. It’s Tebow Time.
