Bane’s orb in ‘THE DARK KNIGHT RISES’

**SPOILER ALERT**  Some photos have emerged from the set of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES that show Bane’s orb, which looks like some crazy, complex machine.  I’m hoping against hope, and I’m sure people will agree with me, that this machine isn’t an ‘earthquake maker’.  There have been rumors circulating that this machine causes earthquakes, and based on the pictures of crumbling buildings in the movie poster and trailer, plus what was seen during the shoot at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, I’m starting to worry these rumors may be true.  I don’t think you can ground this film in much reality if you have a machine that can create earthquakes.  I’m starting to really appreciate THE DARK KNIGHT for what it was…

Hmmm, Earthquake machine does sound silly but the machine that vaporizes water wasn't too smart either. I also prefer The Dark Knight more simple 'dynamite, gunpowder and gasoline' approach.

In theory, an Earthquake machine isn't too far out there, to be perfectly honest. It all has to do with creating the proper vibrations to distabilize whatever it is you want to destroy. It's a perfectly plausible weapon theory (though from what I understand, a bit too hard to realize with current technology), and within the context of a loosely realistic film series (come on people, it's fairly realistic, but not THAT realistic) like Nolan's Batman trilogy, it's actually an interesting idea.

Ocean's 13 had an earthquake machine, so it isnt that farfetched. Im taking thats why Bane kidnaps that dr. pavel because he built this device.
