First look of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn in ‘Suicide Squad’ cast photo
We got our first look of Jared Leto’s Joker in David Ayer’s “Suicide Squad” the other week, and now, we have our first official cast photo courtesy of Ayer’s Twitter account. Take a look at the photos below, including one of Will Smith’s Deadshot.

There’s a lot going on here, but the most recognizable character is clearly Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. She definitely has the conventional look from the comic books, and the tattoos are a nice touch.
Personally, I’m hoping the ditzy look is just a front for Quinn and she’s actually a smart, strong female character. It’d be a waste just to put her in there as the hot, dumb blonde. I’m hoping DC seizes the opportunity and brings some depth to this fan favorite. There have been rumors circulating that Quinn and the Joker (I feel he’ll be referred to mostly as ‘Mr. J’ in the film) are estranged over the murder of Jason Todd. Quinn felt murdering a child went too far while the Joker thought nothing of it.
Other thoughts: Will Smith’s Deadshot looks cool, as does Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flagg. Carla Delevingne looks crazy as Enchantress, but Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje’s Killer Croc looks borderline ridiculous. He seems like an adolescent teen with an acne problem. I was expecting a towering figure for Killer Croc, not some guy of normal height.
All in all, the photo seems like a bad album cover for a 90’s hip-hop group. I’m still curious as to the direction this film is going to take, but I love Ayer’s social media strategy. Keep it coming.
“Suicide Squad” opens August 5, 2016.
