Joss Whedon reveals name of ‘AVENGERS’ sequel
It was an exciting weekend for comic book movie fans at Comic-Con 2013. We got word on a Superman/Batman teamup movie, saw preliminary footage for Guardians of the Galaxy, and more importantly, we got the title for The Avengers sequel.
Director Joss Whedon revealed the title for the sequel will be Avengers: Age of Ultron. For non-comic book fans out there Ultron is not to be confused with Voltron, who we all know and love. Ultron is an artificially intelligent robot with near superhuman strength, stamina, and durability. His powers have varied through each redesign in the comic books, but what is clear is that he has an arsenal of offensive weapons that have caused headaches for the Avengers for years. Sounds like a worth foe, right?
Some people may be surprised to learn that Thanos is not the main villain for the sequel. We do know he will appear in Guardians of the Galaxy so there is a chance, too, he’ll make an appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Whedon is likely setting the stage for Thanos to appear as the main villain in Avengers 3, so hang in there, folks.
Avengers: Age of Ultron opens May 1, 2015.
